Safebooru

I used to use Safebooru a lot for linking to Danbooru's images on forums that do not allow NSFW links or accessing Danbooru from school computers or other places with internet filters.

Whatever happened to it, anyway?

I know it's just Danbooru with "rating:s", but the ads were also safe, and it could be used in the situations described above. In other words, it was useful. I know there's another "safe" 'booru, http://safebooru.org, but Danbooru's database and translations are simply better, and I'd much rather go here.

I MUCH prefer this site, but I don't care for the explicit stuff. So I just blacklist anything rated:e

The ads are obviously a problem if you're linking on a forum that does not allow nsfw imagery.

Anyways, safebooru was killed off because it was taxing on the servers with not a lot of benefit. It was also a pain in the ass to keep a second instance of danbooru updated.

Is there any way to offer what Safebooru did without running an entire second instance of Danbooru?

Just do what I do.

If you must, make a seperate danbooru account where any sexual images, or images rated explicit are blacklisted.

Wasn't there a rule that multiple account is banned?

The issue is with using multiple accounts to bypass the queue limits, you can have multiple accounts that are only used for viewing.

Blacklisting rating:e and rating:q is a question of what, thirty seconds? You can go directly to the login page, then to settings, no genitalia popping out on your boss/mom/teacher.

It's not really an issue of my own personal viewing, but rather linking to Danbooru or accessing it from places with internet filters.

Regardless of whether or not my account can see it, people aren't automatically logged into that account when I link to Danbooru or something.

Especially if we want to link to something that's otherwise hosted on Pixiv. That's at least two kinds of barrier-to-entry right there, without a SFW Danbooru page with a slew of relevant information (as opposed to copying everything to an ImageShack account or something, especially considering Notes).

I think Safebooru was born of forum #15846 and I do miss it.

Heh, I came here to ask what happened to Safebooru, and it turns out that it had been my idea in the first place! I had forgotten. I guess I can make a bookmarklet that toggles filtering nonsafe posts via the blacklist.

I don't think so, just using second accounts to evade rules, like a ban or an upload limit. If you want to make 2 accounts, one that effectively functions as safebooru (you'd have to pay the 20 bucks to get rid of the ads, though), I think that would be perfectly okay.

And yeah I also liked Safebooru in general although I didn't really use it much (nobody expects stuff I link to be work safe anyway, and I don't know anybody who works in a traditional office environment).
