A question about Takakura Himari from Mawaru Penguindrum

Posted under General

It's just a little something, but I think it's worth deciding one way or the other before we have 5 billion images of her.

When she is wearing her helmet, it looks like she has blonde hair and brown hair. (Like post #956365), however, the blonde hair is not "hers", it's part of the helmet (so when she's not wearing it she just has brown hair, like post #954153).

Up until now, when uploading her while wearing the helmet I put both blonde_hair and brown_hair as tags (and you could also argue for two-tone_hair), but I'm wondering if that is a good idea.

Any thoughts?

Yeah, that's how I feel as well.

Of secondary importance, but still... How do you feel about adding two-tone_hair? We have to keep in mind the true function of tags (ie. searching tools), do people who search for two-tone hair want to see a picture of a girl with brown hair and blonde hair on the helmet? If it was me, I would say yes, I would want to find a picture like that.

Anyone who knows this character, and of her helmet, should be able to tag it correctly. Since two-toned_hair only applies to a character's actual hair, it shouldn't count. I think there should be a tag for hair fitted on equipment, which would be a better tag to use, though I don't know if one exists, nor would I know any proper way to name such a tag if it needs to be created.

Personally, I don't think it would be an abuse to use either blonde_hair or two-tone_hair in this situation. The former is probably more acceptable than the latter.

I agree with ShadowPhalanx that two-tone hair should usually be reserved for two tones within the same head of hair, but the situation here is visually similar, and I don't think it's worth creating a new tag for (it would be so specialized and unusual as to get no actual use).

While we're discussing this, any image with Himari wearing the hat and the unique uniform should be tagged princess_of_the_crystal, because that's what the official materials refer to her other persona as.
