Tag Alias: classy_cranberry's -> kura_kura

Posted under General

Actually no. The original title of this eroge/vn is
クラ☆クラ CLASSY☆CRANBERRY’S
as can be seen at OHP http://www.a-kaguya.com/products_PC/clacra/
where クラ☆クラ is just a shortening for the full title which is classy cranberry's.

This is a somewhat common practice (or at least not something unheard of) among japanese developers. Other examples that comes to mind are gothic_delusion(1) and phantom_of_inferno(2).

(1) Origina title: ゴスデリ -GOTHIC DELUSION-

(2) Original title: ファントム -PHANTOM OF INFERNO-

In other words, -1 to alias.

Updated

The Japanese language tends to have a preference for four syllable abbreviations to long words, phrases, or titles (this also shows up a lot with foreign borrowings, e.g. "personal computer" → パソコン / pasokon).

TV Tropes even has a whole page dedicated to this phenomenon when it comes to titles : http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PortmanteauSeriesNickname

Because it's so common, it doesn't warrant special attention, except in cases where the abbreviation becomes more popular than the title itself. In those cases, the alias should go from the abbreviation to the full title, rather than the reverse.
