Since I see these every now and then... should we come up with a tag for images that reference series with a common director (post #910301), writer (post #901317), and so on? Rather than something separate for each type of role, I though something generic like creator_joke might be better. There's also references to certain companies that I'm not sure if we could include in that or make something like studio_joke.

I think there's enough difference between the two to have both creator_joke and studio_joke.
Also, do we want to target only jokes or all references? Not all crossovers in kyoto_animation are actual jokes for instance (though I suppose it's the same for seiyuu_joke anyway). Something like studio_connection, creator_connection, etc. would be more accurate in that case.
+1 for the whole idea at any rate.
Actually I was thinking about replacing "joke" with something like "link" or "connection". Images like post #600553 get me thinking about that since it is not really intended to be amusing, and an alias to a more neutral term might be good.
Replace studio_connection with company_connection or similar. That way we don't exclude anything which would fit this type of tag, whether it be anime studio, manga publisher (like in post #725190), game company, or otherwise.
Creator_connection may then be used for mangaka, directors, writers, etc.

Yeah, do that, and alias studio_connection (already started) to company_connection since UnderneathTheWaves's reasoning on that makes sense too.

Should the ghibli crossovers with movies directed by Miyazaki be tagged with both creator_connection and company_connection? That seems excessive.

No, there are cosplay images and other parodies that wouldn't be considered crossovers.

I would say Ghibli images that include non-Miyazaki-directed films would be a better fit for company_connection while those that are all Miyazaki be better for creator_connection.

Hmm... well, it seemed like it didn't have any problems at first, but I'm finding a few random posts where seiyuu_joke didn't convert to seiyuu_connection. Maybe remove the alias to where they can be more easily found, edit them manually, and then re-do the alias? Or is this just something that will just fix itself in time?

I ran a fix on it. May or may not help.
Should we have a season_connection tag for crossovers based on anime airing in the same season? Those kind of images seem to come up often enough.
