Guro=/=Gore

Posted under General

I disagree with the "gore" tag automatically changing to Guro. It took me a while to realize this, because I kept replacing the guro tag with gore and getting irritated that some prick was undoing all my edits.
As I have edited the wiki, and as the case is, Ero Guro is Erotic Grotesque. Note the EROTIC. There are plenty of images that have gore in them but no sexuality, and for some reason these are tagged Guro.

Bumping this because this is relevant to my question.

Given that guro is now allowed and that it applies to extreme graphic violence, is the presence of gore alone to qualify as extreme graphic violence? I can see that gore can easily fall into guro, but I'm wondering if the two can be separated.

I've read through the forum and I've seen a lot said in here that indicates that guro is being used to describes gore and mutilation designed to "turn people on" but other things that indicate guro covers extreme gore.

So basically I'm asking if gore can be separated from guro.

For that matter, there is a mutilation tag, so I figure the answer for a separation between gore and guro may apply to a separation between mutilation and guro.

No it's not, not in the usual sense. We just use guro to cover material leaning that way, but not falling outside the ToS.

We have it (and scat) listed as banned because they seriously squick more people than pretty much anything else. That doesn't mean there might not be exceptions, but anything in those two categories is going to be held to a much higher standard in general.

And getting a scat post through is going to be way harder than a guro post, come to think of it.

Basically we're trying to avoid having to deal with the contents of gurochan if at all possible.
