clarification on the 90s and 80s tag

Posted under General

I had uploaded quite a few submissions with the 90s tag on and thought that Official art of comics and anime dating back in the nineties, like Tenchi Muyo, or Sailor Moon would fit that.

I see uploaded fan art of characters from the 90s that may or may not have been drawn in the 90s. Its seems to make things confusing, because what if a series from the 90s has been revived (like Slayers).

Do people agree that it would just be simple to limit 90s tag to official art produced in the 90s/80s for series in the 90s/80s?

I think the idea is that overarching animation styles have changed over time, and while it's not possible to say "Oh, that's a very 2007 looking character design" it is possible to say, "Wow, that image looks like it is based on the prevailing styles of the (1990's, 1980's)".

Compare official art from Uchuu Senkan Yamato (70's), Urusei Yatsura (80's), Tenchi Muyo (90's), and Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (2000's) to get a feel for general differences between the decades.
