Policy on Naming Author Inserted Characters in Copyrighted Series

Posted under General

Sorry about the unwieldy title, but I couldn't think of a better way to phrase this.

With the recent comic strips started by kandanchi (starting at post #803863) it just got me wondering if the children, Koharu and Kyonta, should have their own character tags?

I know that there are original characters, but I'm unsure about what happens when an author creates characters to insert into a copyright universe. Should they not be tagged at all, or be tagged and then in the entry just explained that they are non-canon characters.

If the latter is the case, does this also mean that their tags should also imply an original and (in this case) an if they mated tag everytime, since they are Kyon and Haruhi's kids? Or does the original tag not apply because they are characters imported into a copyright universe?

Any clarification is appreciated, thank you.

I *think* current practice would be:
Add both the Haruhi copyright and original.
Give them char tags if they appear multiple times. Qualify, perhaps, with the name of the artist and clarify in the wiki. Something to make it obvious they're not canon.

Some brief discussion of original characters in forum #52251. Feel free to add these characters to the original character wiki page.

I was thinking koharu_(kandanchi) and kyonta_(kandanchi) since a single artist's original characters will probably be of limited spread. Qualifying with the artist saves us from the possibility of running into a conflict if a canon Haruhi character named Koharu ever shows up.

And yeah, we don't really implicate things to original.
