Tag Alias: arm_holding, arm_clutch -> arm_hug

Hug would be fine in most cases, but not so intuitive for characters with interlocked arms such as post #426519.

The locked_arms tag would work there.

Your problem post seems much more suited to the innocent hug category than the more carnal grab.

An arm grab is an arm grab. I don't see why people draw sexual implications for some tags.

Maybe it would be better to omit arm_holding for aliasing and use it for characters holding their own arms (due to shyness, nervousness, etc.) if there isn't already a tag for that.

Aliasing arm_clutch -> arm_hug

+1.

This concept should have a tag, but arm_holding doesn't seem like the most intuitive name for it. The first thing that comes to my mind is holding someone else's arm (like how the tag's currently used), not holding one's own arm. Unfortunately I don't have any better suggestions.

I was about to do the first two but I see arm_hold is aliased to arm_gab, which seems to be used specifically for a sexual action.

Having arm_hold mean one thing and arm_holding mean another would be... confusing. Should I just remove the hold>grab alias?

Bump.

Actually it's not. arm_grab -rating:e is used about the same way arm_hug and arm_holding currently are, and wrist_grab adds even more to the mess. And so yes, I'm in favor of removing the alias.
There's no easy workaround to this and there's no intuitive naming regarding the variety of situations we currently have either.

So first, I'd suggest using separate tags for multiple characters and single character scenarios (such as post #458862). The reasoning being it's worth tagging, and it's unambiguous for the tagger.
Single character scenarios would only use arm_holding.
Multiple character scenarios would use arm_hug or arm_grab.

arm_hug conveys more sense than arm_holding, as it has the clear meaning that two people are implied. Therefore, arm_holding would remain as the tag to use for single characters.

And that's what we have in the end:

That means there's a lot of cleaning to do with arm_holding and arm_grab then (plus writing proper wiki definitions), but the tags aren't that big, so I can handle that if it gets approved.
