I never bothered bringing it up on the forum, but I created an areola_slip tag for that a while back. I left it singular because, as you state, it's possible for only one areola to be visible. It's still comparatively rare for only one to be visible, though.

I'm sticking with my intial reaction that it should be areola.

I'm not going to go into detail because it will further derail this thread but I suggest you go research this because it's not correct at all.

While you are correct, and that you don't refer to a pair of panties as a "panty", it is still correct to refer to them that way in some places.

What I was trying to emphasize is that the English language isn't totally rigid - sometimes terms that can be perceived as incorrect, but "click" more with people are OK to use (though, I guess my examples didn't really fit-in very well with that at all).

But anyway, I just think using areloa over areolae is one of those instances.

Bapabooiee: "areola" is not by any stretch of the imagination "one of those words that can be used in both a plural and singular context".

Repeating my vote from 5 months ago, +1 areolae, for plural (natural pair) tag consistency, and historically correct pluralization.
