Our own Art

Posted under General

Just out of personal Interest, I want to contribute to the community but Its hard as most of the work people have already posted. I will try to do more tagging work but even that, most people get to it before I do ^^'

So that leaves me at a little bit of a bind... But then I thought would it be acceptable to post our own artwork? Just curious....

Well i had read that and saw it was looked down upon, but didn't realize it was not allowed. Either way, thats not really contributory to the community in means that are beneficial to it as a whole so therefore I must find other ways to make myself useful!
AND THE QUEST BEGINS!

Most of our rules aren't exactly hard and fast, even outright ToS violations are occasionally approved (or are more likely uploaded by contributors and kept) if there is a good reason to keep them.

That said, "frowned upon" is usually equivalent to "won't be approved" or "will get flagged" in practice. I don't know of any case where we actually condoned an artist to upload their own art. It's generally better to host it somewhere else and let another user find and upload it if they deem it worthy.

As for good things to do for the community:

  • Finding and uploading good art is the most obvious
  • Translation is also very helpful if you know Japanese or another untranslated language
  • Tag gardening (making sure tags are applied where they are applicable, and removed where they aren't)
  • Filling out the tag lists on poorly tagged posts (old posts often are)
  • Constructive participation in the forum can be beneficial when sorting out policy, and noting aliases and implications that would be useful.
  • Writing wiki articles can also be helpful, though be sure you understand our usage of the tag first, and avoid spoilers and the like.
  • There are also the tasks in forum #31867. That reminds me that I was going to put that in the wiki at some point and never did, I should do that sometime.

Thank you for asking first. Most people would just vomit their images onto the site without warning and then throw a temper tantrum when it wasn't accepted.

As for other ways to contribute, Shinjidude covered those well.

To everyone here thank you very much and I will probably see you around. ^^
