Negative record abuse by user Dalamar

Posted under General

In fact done twice. First time giving neg to user umhyuk for "Continual misuse of the loli tag"
Unfortunately, if you analyze his tag record carefully you'll notice that umhyuk is simply typical gardener of untypical tag (maybe sometimes overzealous one). I don't know reasons why he's doing it, but it's irrelevant. He is normal member and I cannot find any vile pattern in his behaviour which deserves negative. Some mistakes - yes, but loli tag is often very disputable with examples when reaching consensus is close to impossible (see adequate topics on this forum)

Still, as it is not my duty to hunt and report every case of trigger happy negs reporters, therefore I simply took my liberty to give umhyuk positive record for his work. And guess what I get the very next day for that. Icing on the cake is the reason why I was given negative record. That would be even funny, if it wasn't pathetic.

I hope administration will clean up this mess. Thank you for your attention.

I noticed that he also gave you a negative record with a reason "Misuse of the record system" for giving umhyuk a positive record.

I personally think the negative record is unjustified for both you and Umhyuk. The generally consensus is that we generally don't give negative records for tag related problems (forum #21908) and while there are exceptions this isn't one of them. Tagging loli as you said is up to the users discretion and is subject to debate on what constitutes a little girl or a flat chested young lady. I say wait for a staff member to step in and give his opinion on this before it gets to a record war.

Just for clarification, I beleive the "no negative records for tag related problems" was limited to lazy taggers. If someone knowingly, persistantly, and maliciously tags things incorrectly; that would still be grounds for a negative record.

In Umhyuk's case the tagging is certainly not malicious, it's simply a difference of opinions on what the tag covers. And since the definition of the tag is somewhat up for interpretation, that's generally going to be a problem anyway. It didn't warrant a record in this case.

I'd also say giving people positive records to balance negative records is sort of sketchy (even if it had been done in the past before records could be deleted). So long as it is justified and not malicious though, it doesn't warrant a negative record.

I'd still discourage people from doing it. It'd be much better to bring the matter up in a forum thread as was done here so we can discuss the matter and have it reverted if warranted.

You WERE misusing the record system, you should have asked a mod to delete it for him, that's why I gave you a neg. Hardly "pathetic".

As for the other guy, I don't read the forums much, so I didn't know. I just saw that he was doing it a lot and figured I'd leave a neg.

No harm done, and a lesson learned.

Point taken. Maybe it was too hasty indeed. I'll remove this "sketchy" record too.
