I would think "empowered" would make more sense, since that word has a closer meaning to what you are saying there

I wasn't using "landed" as an example due to closeness of meaning. I meant that "landed" was derived from "land" in a way that very well may be the same way that the "powered" in "powered armor" is derived from "power".

In any case I'm still not sure how that provides any more support for "powered" over "power".

Basically you had steered my argument into a direction where I had no intention of taking it, where it subsequently failed and you dismissed it. My last post was just an attempt to back up a bit, since you are the one who said "empowered", not me.

Yeah, that was my bad for misunderstanding where you were going with it and steering things off topic.

I still don't quite understand what your argument was though, and as I noted, I don't quite see why you are saying nothing powers the armor itself. I'm failing to understand why you think "power armor" and "power tool" aren't of the same paradigm.

Because the tool is a tool whose efficacy is improved by its poweredness. The armor doesn't become thicker or anything just by being powered, though. Rather it gains functionality which is generally unrelated to the characteristic of it being armor - such as augmenting the wearer's locomotive capacity.

I'd argue that often the armor becomes more armored via some sort of energy field (see Half-Life or many other games). Otherwise, I sort of see your point. I'm still not sure why it makes "powered" make more sense though.

I'm trying to come up with an example that illustrates your point, but when I do I instead come up with things like "power locks" or "power windows", neither one becomes more lock-like or window-like due to fact that they are powered.
