What do we do with artists whose name are also an object?

Posted under General

Confused? Well, it's really quite simple! :D

One particularly (in)famous artist goes by the name of Blade. Now, that's fine, but then there's this:

I removed the tag, but it used to have a "blade" tag. You can't really deny that there's a blade on that image, but it also clearly isn't drawn by blade (and it'll say "blade (artist)").

What to do? Should we just call it a "sword"? It isn't really a sword, it really is a blade. HELP!

And thinking about it, there are probably other artists that are called stuff (just looking at the first page of artists, "monolith" seems like a fairly likely candidate for confusion). Any ideas?

Hmm... That would work if I was the first person uploading blade material, but that's be troublesome since we already have over 50 items tagged 'blade' (the artist that is, although I can't say for sure that they're all accurate since I only see like 6 of them, haha).

I guess there's not much we can do except to just avoid using blade for anything but the artist. I can't really think of an easy solution.

Retag them. It will take maybe a minute with a tag script.

If you're talking about aliasing, it wouldn't work either, cause then _all_ mentions of "blade" would turn into "blade_(artist)".

In case you misunderstood jxh2154, he was talking about Tag Scripting:

Someone already managed to make the blade tag an artist, so I took the liberty of removing the tag from images that were not by that artist and replace the tag with 'sword' where applicable (which was only two or three posts).

Edit: Nevermind, I went the whole way and changed everything to blade_(artist). Problem solved.

Edit-2: Not solved, actually. The artist prefix won't remove itself, even if the artist is deleted.
