Active Pools Cleanup

Posted under General

I've noticed a significant amount of cluttering of the pools that appear in the Add to Pool dropdown menu.

Looking at the list of pools in that menu, it becomes clear that there hasn't been very much diligence in un-ticking the "Active" checkbox once uploading of dounjinshi, artbooks, and CG sets is completed. I remedied this in as many pools as I could, but I only did so with those pools for which I could feel confident in assuming that they were inactive - for example, completed doujinshi.

However, there's still a huge wall of Touhou-related pools in the dropdown, which intimidated me a bit too much to check each individual one.

I think this would work a lot better if more people would help on this; the Active pools list is a bit too heavily populated at the moment.

While I'm at it, I'd like to propose an idea: might there be some way to automatically remove a pool from Active status after, say, three months without any new additions?

Good idea. Filed Trac #1111

And yeah, I tried to fix some pools but this a daunting task for one person. Help would be appreciated.

I can help with that some but at the same time a lot of the touhou pools tend to be on-going affairs by the artist when he/she feels like getting back to them heh.

Cleaned up some, added to a few, made some new ones... lol

May I ask what was so laugh-worthy in these two sentences? You've added a meaningless emoticon twice in a row with no visible reason whatsoever. Please don't do that, it's terribly distracting, not to mention irritating.

1. It's not an emoticon. :P is and refers to a joke (something you cannot do in text)
2. Just because you don't get the joke doesn't mean there was not one.
3. Does it break any listed rules?
4. Pointless nit-picking of someones typing style is far more irritating then tossing in a lol at the end of a bit of dry humour.

Anyway to explain the joke. This is a thread about cleaning up active pools... I said I would help yet in the end added some in the end leaving the net amount the same thus really accomplishing nothing. It's ironic humour.

Again you are going after my typing style which I suspect is none of your business actually. You might feel :p or lol is not appropriate but I do and unless it breaks any specific rules I would appreciate you not pointlessly criticizing my use of them. They are not randomly scattered here and there, they always serve a purpose. You might not see that but I do and I think I am the best judge of that.

I really shouldn't say anything, since it only further derails the thread, but I find it ironic that you rebuff a grammar Nazi with a rather long string of run-on sentences.

Also, you're not going to keep Hazuki from being a grammar Nazi. That's just sort of part of who he is. On the upside, the forums are probably cleaner and more legible as a result.

1. It's not a grammar issue.
2. My writing style unless it breaks some rules is really none of his business.
3. It's a forum on an image site.
4. Care to point out the run on sentences? (Second paragraph has the only one.)

Do we really need this much off-topic discussion just because you said "lol"?

Anyway, Hazuki hates anything that detracts from the readability of the English language, so he's gonna be vocal about it. And while there's nothing evil about saying "lol" or using emotes, the Danbooru forum isn't really the place for them, even if used in taste. Danbooru's forum is Serious Business, and only clear, legible English is expected - even just appending "lol" to the end of one aloof sentence is frowned-upon (from what I've gathered).

That's just the way it is here, so don't take anything personally. Just try to use only clean, legible English, and try to be on-topic - or else we get a bunch of off-topic replies like these (mine included).

And by that, I hope you didn't mean what I think you did.
