Reason: Per ANN the "official" romaji spelling is [anyamaru_tantei_kiruminzuu], which looks like just a hiragana dump with arbitrary spacing. It's confusing since we all know it's mangled English, but that's okay since the show is cute.

In general I think we use the English word when the Japanese is (e.g. baka_to_test_to_shoukanjuu) specifically using it as well, so animal_tantei_kirumin_zoo might be the tag to use... maybe? I'm not sure what the キルミンずぅ refers to.

Then again we use ichigo_mashimaro so I suppose it's not actually consistent.

I agree that English words should be used in such cases, but あにゃまる isn't really English, is it? Surely "animal" would be あにまる. I don't know what we do in cases like these.

I guess if it's intentionally going for the "nya" sound then we would have to just keep it anyamaru. The only other alternative would be to try and get creative and approximate it ourselves, but that would be a terrible idea and an even worse precedent.
