Tag history queerness.

Either I'm insane or there's something seriously wrong going on here. Has anyone seen something like this with any other user or is it just this one guy?

I know when I was trying to figure out artist tags, I made a bunch of "edits" that turned out looking completely unchanged. That /is/ a whole lot of edits there, though o.O

I would have guessed that he was trying to remove a tag that was implied but all the subsequent edits appear to have come simultaneously so I have no idea.

Perhaps he simply had a lag and pressed the button too many times in attempt to make it work.

Maybe he's just applying a tag script? Because if you apply a tag script on a post, and no changes are made, there's still a tag history item left anyway.

Edit: Wait, I just noticed that they were all the same posts. In that case, I have no idea what he's doing.

Or maybe he's just trying to "boost" hit tag edit count...?

This can be done by starting a tag edit and clicking the 'Save changes' button a bunch or mashing the Enter key repeatedly. Given that the timestamps on each edit are all within the same minute or so, I'd say that's what he did.

I doubt it, given that they're all the same image at the exact same moment (it wouldn't be too hard to boost it in a way that didn't look so obviously strange if that's what he wanted), and none of his other tag edits look either odd or especially prolific.

Looks like either a mistake or a bug.

Small bump to say this guy is continuing to do this. I'm not really sure what he's trying to accomplish, but he recently made over 100 tag "edits" to post #543619 alone...

Yeah, seriously. I'm pretty sure his tag edit count was somewhere around 13,000 when I started this thread. Now it's near 20,000.

Though I guess someone should PM him about this, huh?

I'm tempted to just say ban him. All he's added, with as far back as I'm willing to look through his tag history, is hands and legs to any particular post followed by 20+ more edits to the same post.

Well he did add crossed_legs to post #539641 (and then 269 nothing edits).

I'm agreeing with Log on the temptation to ban him.

Has anyone actually talked with him? We can debate it here all day, but just banning him without contacting is mean. As is giving him a neg, RaisingK.

Okay, first, don't use those emotes anymore. You'll be doing yourself and everyone else a favor.

Second, read the thread, specifically the links I posted. You'll notice that your one tag edit is somehow creating a bunch of clone/garbage entries in the tag history. evazion posted a possible cause to the problem:

...Are you saying you accidentally executed 20,000 dummy tag edits? How is that even possible?

Okay, I'm going to assume that you are indeed doing what evazion pointed out. A fix for this is simple: click the "Save changes" button only once, or the Enter only once if that's how you do it.
