Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

I just thought it would be interesting to see how many of you out there are fans of the show, I for one love it!

I rather like it to. My favorite show, in fact. And it seems like it's still holding onto an easy second place here in terms of copy: tags, behind only Touhou. Which is understandable with Touhou being more than a decade old and having a billion characters, though Haruhi has been ahead of it from time to time.

I agree, I think it has some of the best animation of an anime I have seen in a long time. I also would like to see the method that you guys used to watch the show, buy the DVDs? Download from youtube? Etc.

Watched it about 8-9 times so far via fansub. Also buying the R1 DVDs (have 1-2 already, and 3-4 are on preorder).

(YouTube sucks for anime =P)

LOL, I agree about the youtube thing, I just thought I would throw it out there. ;) I have the box set, which is the best box set I have ever seen by the way, and have been buying all of the special edition bundles, I love the extras, next one I will be getting will have a pillow case! :)

It's pretty good. Granted, the anime had strange pacing - I was struggling to put 2 and 2 together with the way that they Pulp Fictionized the episodes.

What's more interesting is the "second book" I've heard of. Does it focus on those three girl characters on a parallel to the regular Haruhi crew?

I have avoided the novels because I'd rather not be spoiled. And since this is probably going to become a novel spoiler thread now, I think I'll withdraw from reading it =P

Yeah, the original was spread out all over the place, kinda back and forth but if you buy the DVDs I think they put them in more of a cronalogical order, and if you like it all mixed up the special edition versions come with a second DVD with the show the way it was originally aired.

Wow, you just drove the thread way off topic. You become a priviledged member by getting an invitation from one. You might get one if you know such a person well already or if you get liked by them.

Have the R2s, have half the R1s (the rest on order)
Would love to see the novels translated (preferably by Severn Seas as they did a decent job with the Boogiepop novels)

sorry for going off topic, bringing it back around, I personally loved the part where they had the whole band thing going, they were rocking out, and the song kicked ass too!
