About the Ratings

Posted under General

Hey, volks. Do you remember the new Ratings that has General, Sensitive, Questionable and Explicit ratings? Well, I wanted to ask because I found a contradiction in it. You see, when I looked at some of the pics that were otherwise normal and safe for work, they have been given the rating of SENSITIVE. However, when I looked at the howto:Rate thingamajig, I found a contradiction I mentioned earlier. Here is what it says:

I. rating:general - G-rated content. Completely safe for work. Nothing sexualized or inappropriate to view in front of others.
II. rating:sensitive - Ecchi, sexy, suggestive, or mildly erotic. Skimpy or revealing clothes, swimsuits, underwear, images focused on the breasts or ass, and anything else potentially not safe for work.
III. rating:questionable - Softcore erotica. Simple nudity or near-nudity, but no explicit sex or exposed genitals.
IV. rating:explicit - Hardcore erotica. Explicit sex acts, exposed genitals, and bodily fluids.

In case you don't get it, when I use the tag "rating:safe", it shows submissions with the rating of Sensitive, while some or most of them were perfectly normal, others were not normal. Why are the completely SFW contents marked with the Sensitive rating when they are supposed to be marked with the General rating? Why is rating:safe redirected to rating:sensitive when rating:safe is supposed to be redirected to rating:general?

Have we been marking otherwise SFW contents with the Sensitive rating? Is this something some of us had failed to take into account?

Any rating: type search searches for the first letter after the colon - so you can search for rating:sausage and it will give you a sensitive search or rating:godly will give you a general search.

And there are a lot of (mainly older) posts in rating:s which should be in rating:g because rating:g didn't used to exist and stuff has to be moved over manually. Be careful when doing this though as rating:g is supposed to be strict in what it includes.

Thank you for the explanation.
