May I upload an edited picture?

Posted under General

This old picture has a cleaned version (removed the line in the middle) but the edited picture is lower quality than the original file (compression artifacts).

I've edited the original picture pasting some pixels from the edited image and the quality is closer to the original, basically identical.
Is it allowed to upload this kind of edit?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but from what I remember, particularly high quality nude filters get approved.
Because of that I think that as long as the edit is not particularly dishinguable from the original artwork, and doesn't alter it's content, it's fair game.

They shouldn't be. From help:upload rules:

Prohibited Content

  • Third-party edits that substantially alter the content of the image, such as nude filters, headshops, fake translations, or meme or joke edits.

Thanks to everyone.
This is a peculiar case since there's no "original" picture. Even the parent upload is just a scan from a magazine and the old fixed upload is a (lower quality) third party edit.

Well, the picture is already online. Whatever it will be, it will be.
