Downvoting changes

Has downvoting by mods been changed intentionally, or is it another bug? Ie. it used to be the case that a downvote by a mod counted as -5, but it's -1 now.

Isn't -5 a little much now that the general public can't vote? I mean, scores in general are much lower.

I dunno, hence my question. I've learnt not to assume changes in danbooru's behavious are intentional, y'know.

Yeah, I wasn't arguing that it was intentional. The penalty just struck me as a little tall.

Well, I'd suggest mod downvoting power to be changed to -2 or -3 instead of -5. The changes to the system make for a big difference in the scope of vote values, so I'd say it's called for.

Personally, I think that mod downvotes should be just like any other downvote, -1, -2 at much. More than that, is excess of modship privileges, considering that only contributors and mods/admins can vote.

The idea behind giving our votes having extra weight is that we're also the ones to approve, therefore using votes we can communicate our preferences to other mods more effectively. I'd say -3 is a good adjustment for the new voting system.

Does that mean that when mods upvote they also receive more votes?

How stupid, I didn't know such a system was still in place. The new voting system should make everyone's opinion -1.

811/66860 users can vote, I don't think mods need the extra weight anymore. I'm betting half the people who can vote don't even visit the site anymore.

I don't see any reason for mod votes to carry extra weight at all now with the new vote system.

-3 is too much even for a mod, and even more now with the new changes in the system.

I agree that the weighted mod votes aren't nearly as important anymore. Maybe a -2, but certainly not -5, which is generally enough to offset the full score and then some of the vast majority of images, what with the new rules in place.

So I "vote" for the mod downvote (including mine of course) to be changed to -2 or -1.

Since it's already now set at -1, this status quo works for me. I was actually going to make a thread asking for this soon anyway.

I've removed the weighting. As mentioned scores in general are a lot lower, and I believe the mod queue changes removes much of the need for it.

Do you mean the massive, triple-digit downvoting that occurred before the overhaul of the voting system? That was, in all likeliness, the result of a lot of member-level accounts (most likely sockpuppets) voting en masse to game the system. It's why we now restrict voting to Priveleged and up.

*Please* get your facts straight. There was *never* any sockpupetting in the old system. Never. Simply because the old system didn't care about accounts and you could game it much easier, without creating a single account.
