Tag vandalism, user: ere

Posted under General

A while ago, while uploading post #459583 by hebimei_masayoshi, I was surprised to find that Find Artist wasn't working, which turned out to be because there wasn't any Artist entry. This was pretty weird since there was one before, I'm the one who made it. I just re-made it and forgot about it, but now I went to check on all the other images, I've found that all the source URLs in them were corrupted so that they couldn't lead to the Pixiv page.

Apprently "Ere" vandalized all the tags, urls and I'm guessing deleted the artist entry for whatever reason, I just hadn't realized since Hillside Moose fixed all the tag vandalism, though he didn't pick up the less visible damage.

Banned. Please send albert an email to make sure he sees this thread, and ask him to dig out all the changes by that user from the DB, as much as possible. This should minimise the amount of damage that slips by.

I wonder how much of this goes on without anyone noticing. Maybe we can make sources undeletable by members once they are entered in.

No. No. No. No. No. Fuck no. Aside from using the wrong url (page over image) I have encountered more than enough cases where someone links the wrong image completely.

Simple to say, not to do. What do you propose, we have albert program some special system to let us ban users who use the wrong URL from uploading from pixiv?

Anyway that reminds me I'm horribly behind on sending out the wrong URL reminders... I swear I'll get to that this weekend, Log. =P

I have yet another list so give me a heads up before you start and I'll send you that one too. :x

I'm not sure I have a real solution myself. But I definitely think this kind of vandalism is the most dangerous and undetectable. Ephyon is lucky/observant that he found out about this.

Sorry that I missed the greater damage, I didn't suspect anyone would do this much harm. I sent him a warning though the mail system two weeks ago when I noticed the delited tag cropping up in the tag listing and finished fixing his mess; he hasn't shown any activity since.

Speaking of which, is anyone still running the pixiv URL fixup script? I've found some wrong sources on posts from 3 months ago, so I'm guessing no.

Log is still running it far as I know. There might be certain kinds of links that it can't fix though, like if someone just links the main profile page. Do you have some examples? Maybe he can see if there's an issue.

You mean the one I wrote? I haven't been using it myself for over a month now (it took me a while to realize it was redundant).

If someone attempts to reupload an image with the wrong url and it wasn't sourced it'll auto-input the wrong url. I've seen a few people do it manually with the wrong url, too, but that's less common. There's a bunch that I can't fix due to being pulled from pixiv, too.

Probably, I dunno who wrote it.

Huh? But how does that influence the script's ability to detect the wrong URLs?

Come again?
