It's always a steamroller. Roadroller refers to a parody of the song rather than the vehicle itself, though presumably the vehicle will almost always be present in an image that references Road Roller.

Steamroller is an object, Road Roller is a song/parody/meme/concept. Road Roller is like world_is_mine, for example.

You wouldn't tag just any picture of Miku with an umbrella as a Melt reference. Same here. It's just that I can't imagine there would be much reason to draw a picture of Rin and a steamroller other than to reference Road Roller, but it's not inconceivable I guess. Likewise, there might be references to the Road Roller song/pv that don't involve the steamroller. Again, unlikely, but possible.

Oh. I'd never heard of the term "road roller" before outside that PV. Didn't even know it was a real word. Wiki notes "In some parts of the world, road rollers are still known colloquially as steam rollers, regardless of their method of propulsion", which is what I was thinking of I guess.

The better question here would be if we need to make that distinction, or if we can just accept the colloquial usage of steamroller as appropriate to always use.
