Tag Alias: pirate_hat -> tricorne

Aliasing pirate_hat -> tricorne.

Reason: Real name for said hat.

I've seen it most often spelled tricorn, myself. (etymology: tri (three) + corn (horn))

Not all pirate hats I've seen are of the three-cornered variety, though.

What about tricorn(e)_hat to be a bit more descriptive? But like sgcdonmai notes, are all pirate hats like this?

Tricorne_hat already exists, albeit mostly unpopulated. I'm with sgcdonmai on the alias though. Not all pirate hats are tricorne. For example the hat in post #177144 doesn't look like a tricorne to me.

Tricorne_hat is an unnecessary qualifier. Every tricorne is a hat already (which suggests an implication, btw).

It doesn't seem like this should be an alias or implication anyway since they're not always three cornered, as has been noted.

So I'd say people should keep using pirate_hat as they have been, and if they want to add tricorne, go ahead if it's correct. I added tricorne implicating hat though.

If we want to prefer the unqualified and currently unused tricorne, we ought to also alias tricorne_hat to it. It's barely used, but someone else, and yourself preferred tricorne_hat to tricorne by itself.

Yeah, I mentioned _hat because I had no clue what a tricorne was and figured I wasn't alone. So I'll alias tricorne_hat to it.
