upload idea

Maybe have a hidden upload area for non-privileged users to post items for approval, as another way to get privileged user status. Only privileged users would be able to approve and see content and have a daily upload limit, as not to flood the server.

I like the idea but it would be a pain to implement. What happens if you upload a duplicate?

maybe use a MD5 Hash and or Exif data, and would they say file uploaded all ready, could also be used to cut down duplicated images in the DB. Also using a hash, means that even if the file is under a different name it could still find it.

Another add on to this would be a client side upload program that could pre-hash the files, and send just the hash info to see if it is all ready in the system. That would also save system resources, and bandwidth.

danbooru is already md5 based, if a lot of people want the client side upload program, I can code it (in java for os indepedant)

That seems like a good idea, because there's not much contribution through simply favoriting, commenting, etc.

Anyways, all there is to really worry about is how it'll be done.

I've tried implementing it. Regular members can now upload stuff, and it'll be added to a queue for a moderator to approve.

Is there any way to check for duplicates? For the moderators i mean.

Does it not check for duplicates when upload as it does for regular users?
