Is there any reason that users no longer have the ability to delete their own posts anymore?

Probably because some people were rather immature and abused the ability to delete the posts they uploaded.

Yes. As in most "user-uploaded but not user-generated content"-based sites, images cease to "belong to you" when you post them. Therefore you should not have the right to remove them from danbooru. You could argue that someone else could just upload them again, but 1) that requires effort on the part of someone else; and 2) that requires an admin to clear out the post history of the deleted post so you don't get the "duplicate" error message when trying to reupload it.

It also made users able to delete their own images before the 3-day approval period ran out, thus preventing a deletion from being attributed to them. I guess there's no harm in that though, as long as that user never becomes a Contributor based on their "0 deletions" when they really uploaded 1000 pics of Daffy Duck jacking off while shitting in Mickey Mouse's mouth that didn't get approved.

That's probably one of the best reasons for not letting people delete their uploads. I'd almost be for letting contrib+ delete their own uploads, but you still get the issue of a major contributor getting mad and nuking all their contributions. It can be reversed, but only with a lot of hassle.

Do you think it'd really happen that much? Honest question, not trying to be snide. I'm just curious if there's been cases of this in the past or if it's likely to happen.

I personally don't see a reason for people to be able to delete their own posts. If there is some reason for it to be deleted, they can just ask a mod or leave a comment about it I guess.

No, definitely not often. But if someone with a few thousand posts did it, that'd be a pain to fix.

Maybe they changed it because I remember one user got mad at the site or something and randomly deleted around 300 of his posts or something like that before leaving the site in a rage.

I used to delete any image I uploaded which had a bad rating for whatever reason, and also anything I later realised was a lower quality duplicate (something piespy's tool now prevents).
