Some distinction between Loose socks and Leg warmers

Posted under General

bleh, had to edit the loose socks one, I made a mistake at the end.

Anyway, it seems there is minor (very minor) issues with tagging loose socks as leg warmers, and vice versa.

Quite often loose socks are white, or off-white, but not all the time. They are bunched and definitely look like socks. Especially when they go into the shoes. You are more likely to see them with school uniforms (when the person is a student) or other activity uniforms (like cheer leading) post #369725.

The confusing part with Leg warmers is that they are socks but they are footless, sometimes they will be built with an elastic bottom so it bunches out over the shoes giving the impression that they are socks. The common design is a bell bottom look, while most are tight on the calves.

Like with Rin and Len. I would say they are wearing Leg warmers, based on the official artwork and Japanese sites that say they are, and because the design is meant to be fashionable and not based on them being students.

Example: these were tagged for leg warmer, when it's clear that they are going into the shoes, which makes them socks

Then there is this one post #340272, but this post shows that she is wearing loose socks post #251312. Or socks of some sort, unless the artists are speculating on it.

So I just wanted to know if anyone else has their own way of telling which is which.
