Danbooru

Kouno Hikaru & sauce

Posted under General

Make sure to see if there's any differences between the two as happens with some artists. With some of Kouno Hikaru's images, I've noticed the version on Pixiv is slightly higher resolution.

Regarding quality, obviously the higher quality image should be used no matter what link it's at. That would end the conversation immediately.

If they're the same: While I prefer homepage links personally - it gives at least *some* small feeling that danbooru isn't just an English-language pixiv mirror with better tagging - the pixiv tags are probably better for more reliable access in the short term, and easier mass editing/tracking back to a page with artist comments/tags.

On the other hand, there's the argument of putting too many eggs in one basket. If pixiv went down tomorrow, we'd have a frightening amount of broken source links in one fell swoop.

Not too much we can do about that though, I suppose. It seems like every day another artist I follow moves to pixiv, either with higher quality images, larger images, images earlier than their website, pixiv-only images or versions of images... I guess it's so convenient few really want to update their own sites anymore. =/

(And the significant pages added to the artist entry!)

We'd still have this, at least, though I am curious about the image links I'd seen in at least one profile (I'm guessing a latest image sort of deal). I am interested about how jpeg degradation could play into this (having, oddly, found a higher-quality-than-posted-here pic on a hentai TGP among so many artifacts).
