New tag: black_thighhighs

Posted under General

I've already added about 200 older images to this tag and written a wiki_article that (hopefully) clarifies what should get this tag. I also added a similar wiki page for white_thighhighs, since it didn't have a wiki page.

So, are the definitions and tags acceptable? I'd appreciate some opinions before I do something tough to reverse. ._.;

Now we're even tagging the "default" thighhigh color? Are we going to tag blue_school_swimsuit next? Where does this end? I don't remember where we decided that we would start doing this.

There are over 38,000 thighhighs images. I guarantee at least 30,000 of those are black. Currently only about 200 are tagged. What's the point?

After seeing the comment about black thighhighs being the "default" color, I went through a couple dozen pages of the most recent posts with the thighhighs tag and made tallies of the different kinds I found. Here are my results:

Black: ~50% (147 of 311)
White: ~20% (68 of 311)
Other: ~30% (96 of 311)

Black is definitely the most common, but it's not like it makes up almost the entire collection, either. (unless the "invisible" lolis adore black) :P

Anyway, if no one's going to support me, that's alright. I just wanted the community's thoughts before doing something that could worsen the site. I only tagged 200 of them for that reason. :)

Log said: Tag script. Honestly it's really stupid to only add a tag to certain characters with a characteristic but not others, it really should be all or nothing.

Disagree. I only use most characteristic tags with original characters, with the reasoning that there's no other good way to access them. Thus I tag them a lot more specifically than established characters. I will not tag every Miku image with green_hair twintails thighhighs etc. Granted someone else just goes and does so, but that's their business.

Well I don't tag anything outside of character/copyright/artist on non-original characters here, so I'm probably not the one to ask in the first place.

I do agree that original characters need lots of descriptor tags because they're a mess/impossible to find without them.

I prefer to fully tag everything including known characters, since those pics may be of interest to someone searching one of the unessential tags, and without being tagged they won't show up.

Also unless the character is popular, the post will likely suffer the same fate as an original character if left partially tagged, being buried without much chance of later discovery.

I tend to agree with what Shinjidude says. I use generic tags for browsing, so having pics tagged properly is important. And since everything is someone's fetish, it's a given that someone will look for green_hair or whatever, and they will want Miku included. So whilst I agree that tagging black_thighhighs might be a bit excessive, tagging known characters with their generic traits should still be done.

I agree with Shinjidude as well. Properly tagging characters will make it easier for people to find specific characters with traits they like, but don't necessarily know about.

Not to question anyone's thinking, but how is it determined whether a tag like this is too specific? It's confusing to me, since tags like striped_panties are accepted (or so I think), yet many people consider this one to be too much.

I see using tags like this as perfectly fine, as long as it plays a somewhat significant role in the image (e.g. an object being worn by the characters in the foreground) and is somewhat common among different characters. However, I also feel that posts tagged like post #373450 are simply ridiculous. (it was even worse before I cleaned some of it out)
