Merely to avoid further confusion: jxh2154, I don't mind the locks at all. The point was that you seemed bothered by the fact that people asked for more discussion on some changes, since you referred to it as "bitching".

(If you're wondering why I mentioned the locks at all, then, it was a connection made purely as an aside. Imagine this mental path: jhx calls discussion "bitching" -> discussion must bother him -> no wonder he's the biggest user of the lock feature. I regret mentioning it, since it distracted you from what I was trying to say.)

Looking at some locks of mine in the past month, most were the result of people necrobumping old threads with different topics, posters suggesting something dumb and getting insulted by everyone (even if they "deserve it", I don't think that should go on long), or posts from people who didn't read the stickies ("approve my posts" etc).

Also, I'm not the only one locking threads, but it does seem I'm often the only one who posts first to say they're doing so. I noticed a number of locked threads I never touched, like the barefoot/feet one. I was wondering where that'd gone, actually.
