Implication: makenshi_chrona to ambiguous_gender

Implicating makenshi_chrona to ambiguous_gender.

Reason: As of 1/1/2009, Chrona's gender has not been made clear, and is apparently undecided by the author.

No. There's only two images currently with that tag (both tagged as such by you), and even if Chrona's gender is *canonically* ambiguous, that doesn't mean all of the pictures hosted here are.

That would be annoying if the gender of this character ever does get defined, so I'm voting against this implication.

And if it does get approved, it should be implicated to androgynous, which is the correct tag to use for characters that could go either way.

It's quite possible to draw a picture of this character in which the gender is unambiguous, regardless of canon.

Yeah, that's a good point. if we followed through and then the question of Chrona's gender was later answered, it'd be an unnecessary administrative burden. Let's drop it. "androgynous" is good enough, since it would still apply after Chrona's gender is decided, and it's already in place where appropriate.

Regarding the meaning, though, "androgynous" implies one gender with characteristics of the other, while "ambiguous_gender" implies _unknown_ gender. I remembered the term from an old SNL skit ("Pat") and kind of latched onto it.

More importantly, gladwort, on danbooru we tag based on appearance. Nobody cares about canon.

Though it seems to be settled, I'm just confirming that no, we wouldn't want to do something like this.

Agreed. Furthermore, the "ambiguous_gender" tag is definitely redundant. I think the point was made that it's exactly the same as "androgynous". Unknown gender would be "unknown_gender", wouldn't it.

That's certainly one definition that's come into common use, but the term is based on Greek "andro-gyne" which is basically male-female, and refers to (secondary and tertiary) sexual traits that are "neutral", such as a flat chest, which either sex could have, or long wavy hair and a high voice.

For example, a lot of Japanese male models/idols are androgynous. That doesn't mean they have a huge rack though.

Practically speaking, we use trap for characters that look female but are male (or reverse_trap for the opposite), so androgynous covers those characters where you can't really tell either way.
