UI Interface Question (Picture Listings/Blank Spaces)

Posted under Tags

This isn't a major issue but more of a UI interface question of convenience. I have quite a few blacklisted tags that are also pretty popular to stop an overwhelming flood of the exact same pictures and sometimes upwards of 10 child posts on the site that clutter things up, however on occasion this will lead to only a handful of pictures being displayed per page or sometimes even nothing (which looks really awkward) if there's 5-10 or sometimes even 20 child posts or the same tag in a row which with some prolific uploaders I notice happens quite a lot where they'll upload in bulk.

Is there any way to make it so that those posts just get ignored entirely by the UI and the other ones get moved up to fill the page. Basically what I'm asking as well is is there some setting of how many pictures get displayed per page like some forums have that let you toggle the page display between say 10 or 20 threads let's say that I'm just missing entirely in the page settings? Just as an example when I set Exhentai to display only certain categories like Doujin or Game CGI or search specific tags it just completely ignores everything else in the search. No blank pages and whatever number of galleries I set to display per page is what comes up on that page no matter what.

As another example of what I mean, right now on the 1st page I can see 19 picture, on the 2nd page only 12, the 3rd page only 10 and just a whole bunch of blank space. If there's even any sort of workaround for that I'd appreciate it.

There is a posts per page setting, but unfortunately it's only available to Gold users. You can add limit:200 to your search to do the same thing, but you'll have to add it to every search. This doesn't count against your tag limit. Adding &limit=200 to the URL is another way of doing this. 200 is the max limit for post listings, for other listings the max is 1000.

Another option would be to filter out certain common things with metatags rather than blacklists, assuming you don't hit your tag limit. parent:none filters out child posts and -rating:safe filters out safe posts, for example. See help:cheatsheet for more.

One thing to caution about regarding increasing the post limit is that it will also increase the database query duration as well. Member-level users only have a database timeout of 3 seconds (Help:Users), and so are the most susceptible to these kinds of timeouts. Additionally, certain query items or combinations will take longer than others. However, blacklists have no timeout whatsoever since they're run client-side and use information that is already embedded in the HTML.

Basically, you'll need to try things out and fine tune your settings to find what works for you, such as decreasing the limit or search terms and using more blacklist items as queries start to time out.

Alright I have Better Better Booru installed now after manually copying and pasting the script in tampermonkey. nonamethanks do you mind just telling me what specific options you used in the BBB settings tab that gets added so I can put this issue to bed for good? I have to go to work right now so no time to fiddle unfortunately.

Yes now I see thank you. The script certainly lives up to it's name. This feature that changes it to sort of a feed is exactly what I've been looking for and more since I just scroll down and it keeps filling the page literally again living up to it's name of "endless pages". Case closed. :D
