Danbooru

From 50 uploads to 10 uploads daily

Posted under General

Your upload limit is determined, on a scale from 10 to 50, by your post deletion ratio in the last 60 days. You can raise your upload limit by waiting for your deleted posts to become at least 60 days old, or by uploading more pictures that get approved, thereby making the deleted posts comprise a smaller fraction of your total posts.

You'll only return to a cap of 50 uploads if you have zero deleted uploads in the last 2 months.

Read here for more details.

This part will also interest you:

At a 5% deletion ratio, your effective limit is 66% of your base limit.
At a 7.5% deletion ratio, your effective limit is 50% of your base limit.
At a 10% deletion ratio, your effective limit is 33% of your base limit.
At a 15% deletion ratio or greater, your effective limit is reduced to the minimum of 10 upload slots.

Only at zero deletion ratio will your effective limit be 100% of your base limit.

Oh look.

OT aside (as OP's question has likely already been well-answered), whichever example he cared to use he still has a point. You upload a lot of niche (and typically heavily western-influenced)... crap.

Which makes me wonder, why are you still here? Why are you still spending your time on a gallery that you know will never contain most of the uploads you put here? I think most people go visit another board to share the stuff they know will at least go somewhere, but all I've heard is the stories of you buttering up to some people just to continue doing, well, whatever you're doing. The limit is there to be a stopgap between you flooding the gallery with stuff that isn't that great by any quantifiable measure (aside from "hey it's my fetish").

The system has changed to reflect a better incidental performance of its' users, to reward users like nonamethanks, poppoko, and Jnglmpera for continued regular diligence in curating for the gallery with very little leeway in between with the occasional borderline post. The point is that we do need less crap in the gallery because it is true a lot of stuff goes to deletion, everyday. To continue to sarcastically downplay it, just because it doesn't reward you in particular... You either learn, or you don't. Because most of us like it this way.

I upload "niche" because I aim for preservation.
You can keep uploading all the Touhou / Kancolle / [insert Pixiv flavour-of-the-month here] art; I'll do my piece to preserve the works for smaller fandoms, and those influenced by Japanese artists.
Why am I still here? Because Danbooru has the best tools. And also because it gets mirrored across the net. (Yes I upload non-Danbooru stuff elsewhere, e.g. Rule34)
Don't lecture to me about curation, please. I've fixed enough artist entries to deserve that.

You are asking the wrong question here.
It is not "Why are you still here" but more "Why do you still complain".
The reason for being here is pretty simple and probably the same as you or me: It is fun to use this page.

If you don't overdo it, then there is not really a problem why Kikimaru uploads his "crap" and he already can't due to the limitation.
This site is supposed to be an archive for mostly Anime art, though. What Kikimaru does is filling up a niche and I fail to see the reason why he should stop it.
This page is an archive after all. If his posts are deleted, then they are still here, but not in status:active, but status:deleted.

I guess it's better to live and let live here in this matter. That means stopping to complain (like seriously, what does that achieve Kikimaru?) and stopping to ask why someone is still "here".

While I appreciate that notion of yours (and think it is somewhat noble, as I too am an archiver), if you're aiming for preservation then you're doing a notably poor job of it, forcing the rest of us approvers to put up with your subpar uploads. If it were me, personally, I would reduce your limit to even lower than the minimum set threshold (5 a day or something like) because at most that's all I want to see from you.

Yes, we are a gallery aiming to preserve art, but usually the art that we think deserves the preservation. While it is totally fine to upload what you want, to some extent the measure is typically in place to dissuade repeat users like yourself from coming back and flooding the queue with more stuff that most of the userbase doesn't want. That's why I suggest it's better you just focus your efforts somewhere else.

Also, spoiler alert, but the only gallery that regularly mirrors this one is Gelbooru, upon which I see an already existing suggestion within your feedback of. It's not nearly as bad as you think, one could say some users browse Gelbooru more often than here because of the lifted restrictions on searches. (No 2-tag limit! Search to all your content, free users!)

Not to mention that to some extent, I see it almost slimy as it is, that you think you can upload "good posts" on a somewhat irregular basis to try to save face and pretty up for promotion, but most of us see it. It's like putting lipstick on a pig.

Meh, tools aside (as I do write a number of my own to help me figure out things with pixiv/seiga), it still doesn't seem sufficient enough an excuse. Gelbooru has a bookmarklet too, and in my awareness you don't use that many of the more advanced features given your tagging/uploading habits (I could be wrong!).

Don't lecture to me about curation, please. I've fixed enough artist entries to deserve that.

Anyone can lecture you about anything they'd like. How many artist entries you've 'fixed' has absolutely zero impact on that.

Not really. Although yes, the complaining is one thing, I moreso disagree with that user's presence entirely for continued disregard of the system and derailing topics just to push his agenda. As is going by older, necro'd topics.

To tell you the truth, I actually dislike uploading. If it were me, I wish everyone got good at uploading all kinds of good art with diligence (which is why I take the time to write, code and publish the resources that I do). But the fact is that I'm fairly selective about who gets what, and the fact that I do upload fast is more a reflection of what I trust to see on the site better than anyone else, because I dislike undertaggers and credit hoarders the most (even if I may seemingly look like one of them given the absurdity and frequency at which I upload). I see it sometimes as a countermeasure rather than for my own benefit and joy, as dark as that sound.

I guess it's better to live and let live here in this matter. That means stopping to complain (like seriously, what does that achieve Kikimaru?) and stopping to ask why someone is still "here".

To me, these are one and the same, because I have seen the repeated complaints made against him, and he has made practically zero effort to improve his behavior. The only thing that's gotten better is our tolerance, not his squabbling.

Who have I buttered up? Going for promotion?
You must have me confused with someone else.
I do what I do, and I've long since given up on being given any recognition whatsoever.

Please, do tell me what's wrong with my tagging. Because I don't seem to be missing tags.
Unless you want me to write code to identify major tags. Which I can't. I don't code.

(I'm sorry for derailing this thread, however I feel obligated to defend myself from accusations)

It just seems that way. Because there are good uploads that you make, that I definitely wouldn't refuse to approve, but they are usually very spare, and often in between the collage of somewhat inferior stuff that resembles the likes of an amateur fetish gallery.

Well, that's my suggestion. Take it or leave it. But personally I think you waste a lot of breath here complaining when you should really just shut it and go somewhere else when you don't like it. If you weren't aiming for recognition, then why complain? These users know what they're getting into when they upload content that's unfitting for the gallery, you being the real exemplary of this.

Nothing's wrong with your tagging. I'm just noting that from how I see your uploads, the "excuse" you make to say that Danbooru has the best tools doesn't really apply when Gelbooru has pretty much the same. They're lacking a few things here and there, but it's functionally just about the same system. Only things you miss are the beta stuff like the character guesser.

But I won't cue you in on those, because I have no real reason to. I just think it's kind of faulty ground to stand on.

Yeeeah, about that.
