Villetta vs. Viletta?

Posted under General

I've noticed that all the pictures of Villetta Nu from Code Geass are marked as viletta_nu, and even the ones I uploaded myself recently were changed from villetta_nu to viletta_nu.

Is there any specific reason for using the one L variant when almost all official sources show the name with two?

A few of the Geass names were messed up, Rolo_Lamperouge was Rollo_Lamperouge for the longest time. I actually went and fixed them all by hand recently.

As far as I know, Millay_Ashford should be Milly_Ashford and Lakshata_Chawla should be Rakshata_Chawla (personally I prefer Millay/Lakshata but if it's not right then I suppose it should be corrected). I don't know if this is the right place to bring it up, but I figured I'd just point it out.

When doing something like that, where a lot of images change on a commonly used tag, bring it up in the forum so we can create the appropriate alias.

BTW, can someone quickly link the source for these proposed changes before I make them? Is it on the japanese Geass site?

Should makenshi_chrona be changed tomakenshi_crona then? Since in one on the Soul Eater endings, his/her name is written out.

Also now that I think about it... Medusa's name was written on a nameplate in the show as "Medousa". Can we just count that as bad spelling from the Japanese, or count that as official?

Bad spelling. (Greek mythology kinda has a head start here, anyway.) Ibuki Fuuko's name is given as Fuko in the Clannad opening, but we don't use that, either.

Probably. It seems like a different situation from what I note below.

Seconding the bad spelling. The reference is pretty obvious and there's a perfectly established spelling already. When names aren't just made up, we don't necessarily accept the Japanese on blind faith.

Though, RaisingK, Fuuko is a different situation, being a difference in romanization rather than just Engrish... or Gleek, I guess.

Regarding the original topic, I can't actually find any obviously valid Japanese sources backing up this romanization. There may have been some in magazine scans or something - there's a vast amount of Geass lore-generating merchandise outside of the anime itself - so I'll leave that to someone more well-versed in the subject.
