It could be a quite understandable request by a young user without a credit card, but even if I were Chinese or a WeChat user, paying for something for a random stranger would be too risky.

No, he is asking you to pay him FIRST, then he pays you back via Weixin LATER. If he ever pays you back, that is.
Trust is hard to come by these days. A phone call or text message claiming you won some "grand prize", a knock on your door by some "charity workers" or "poor people in need of help", an email about "a oil tycoon widow who wants to distribute her husband's heritage in secret and she will leave you a portion for helping her to do so". Seriously, don't tell me you ever encounter or at least heard about any of these.

I already offered my two cents on this case, and that is "you sound fishy". Others don't have to believe me at all, they can and they WILL have their own thought on this. Nothing stops them from buying your word, and nothing stops them from not doing so.
