Uploading from Sakimichan (banned artist)

Posted under General

Came up in topic #10525, but it's off topic there.
Well, like I said in forum #130256, I'm pretty well aware of @albert 's statement he made three years ago.
Now, there were some uploads from the banned artist sakimichan. The point of this topic is to ask if it's now safe to upload from this artist, because in the past, another user was banned, because he didn't stop to upload from this artist after multiple calls from the moderation. So before this happens again and it should not happen again, I want to ask what is now the exact stance about banned artists. I mean, albert's statement is three years old and things could have changed...

facepalm.... here

That user was banned because he didn't request those posts to be banned and intentionally uploaded without the artist tagged, so it was in violation of the policies enacted here.

The more you talk about this the more it becomes a problem. Call it a mini-Streisand effect.

Yes. He was asked to stop uploading from this artist. But apparantly, it is ok now to upload from them again?

I'll let you figure that out for yourself. The answer is there, written in plain English from the admin himself.

It's pretty much spongy. One user is allowed to upload from a banned artist, the other one gets a neutral (the ban is for continuing, like I said).

As far as I know, no one's really allowed to upload from banned artists?

(This part is just purely wild speculation and hypothetical thinking, so don't mind it too much)

Unless the artist themselves allowed their works to be posted here again, I personally think banned artists' works are just that: no one should post them.

Though, you could say they are allowed as long as they're immediately banned afterwards, probably because a mistake from the uploader.
For example, posting from a banned artist from an URL not listed in the database's list for said artist?

Also, @provence, I think you got Arshole's case wrong. He intentionally posted Sakimichan's works knowing that was a banned artist, so the ban happened. Or, do you mean another user who uploaded from banned artists?

Well, in my opinion, it just looks spongy. I'll refrain from uploading banned artists anyway, since I can't really figure out when the line between neutral feedback and no feedback is crossed. It's not the ban, that was consequent in the end.

Better safe than sorry. That's why I mentioned that only users with ban privileges are safely allowed to do it.

Even the upload page fails to automatically ban posts that are uploaded with the banned artist tag sometimes. It becomes a problem when normal, member-level or anonymous users see that and let the artist or someone else know.

EDIT: As evazion said.

Not sure how "banned artist" is being taken to mean "underground art warehouse." If someone has requested their art not be uploaded here just respect that. No you can't upload banned artwork, it's not the same as restricted content such as loli.

Much as I respect that viewpoint, it's hard to enforce. Some users just plain don't know and will avoid it next time, and others will think it's a different artist.

It's just an unsaid thing that both regular users and contributors do from time to time. It's not something you can toss a blanket over and throw neut/neg feedback left and right over. Besides, if it's not publicly accessible to a majority of the userbase, then we as approvers treat these posts just as any other posts under the same guidelines. That's why you can't flag something for being from a banned artist, otherwise we'd have a crapload of pointless deletions that would still remain public if not banned.

Anyways, I think it's best to end the conversation here. Any more attention drawn to this kind of thing and we'll have more trouble than we want.
