Favorite tags and favorite users

Posted under General

How about it? :D

There are tags I search on a daily basis for, and having them as favorites would make life lots easier. Similarly, some users tend to upload awesome stuff all the time, so I try to keep up to date with them as well. Being the forgetful sod I am, I generally have to favorite one of their images and click on that to get their nickname.

It would just be 2 more links under My Account (below My favorites, basically) which I don't think would clutter the interface of My Account much at all. It could even show 5 thumbnail previews for each favorite (and have like, 5 favorites on each page to keep the size down).

So, more or less like this: (hackjob Photoshop mockup alert)
favorite tags: http://i7.tinypic.com/7w52ssh.jpg
favorite users: http://i5.tinypic.com/8aeisuw.jpg

There might be a really good reason for this not to exist that I just didn't think of, but these features would definitely be used a lot by me! :D

Updated

Hmm, I would find an adition to save your favourite searches an welcomed addition. Then again, it would fille the database more, so... Gona wait a response from the admins.

Favorite tags and favorite searches would be essentially the same thing for me, I figure doing favorite tags is a bit simpler. But yeah, favorite searches would work just as well (or even better).

"Favorite tags" is an okay idea, but "favorite users" sounds like a total circlejerk.

I don't know if it'd be a circlejerk, how would you know if someone favorited you? I wouldn't want the user in question to know about their being added or anything, it's just for personal browsing convenience. (I don't really know what the use is of having everyone's favorites public, either.)

Maybe it's not a good idea, I can live with not having it. It's just that I feel like an idiot clicking on a favorite'd image just to see if the guy uploaded something else. :D

Finding new stuff. I often browse favourites of other users I know (or suspect) to share similar tastes to mine, many times it results in awesome new finds I wouldn't have stumbled upon otherwise.

Making favourite users public would be of little use, though.

I suppose that's similar to my browsing people's recent uploads, then. Point taken!

Well, just having favourite tags will probably be enough, at least from a usability perspective - I mean, nothing's going to stop you from having a "user:myfavourite" as one of your favourite tags, should you so desire.

I wasn't even aware of that trick, that's super useful. Although I still have the same problem of "what was that one bloke called... It was the one with the images..."

Anyway, then the feature idea/request is culled to just the favorite tags. The only reason I can think of that having users separated is that if you put favorite users and tags in one page, it might add up quickly. Would for me, anyway, since I'd really make use of it. :D
