Tag subscriptions will stop updating on February 1

Posted under Bugs & Features

How about if the Saved Searches link gets reverted (i.e. to the manage saved searches page), and a "»" (») gets placed to the right of the Saved Searches link that links to search:all. So it would look like the following:

Saved searches »

That's kind of how a lot of stuff works on this site, e.g. the Uploader name on a post links to that uploaders profile, and the "»" next to it links to a user:Uploader tag search.

Edit:

I got pretty confused trying to find my tag gardening searches as well. I've essentially been keeping a set of searches "bookmarked" under a "tag editing" title, so having them crammed together with all the posts in my five other sets or even intermingled with all the different gardening searches doesn't really work very well.

I pretty much exclusively use my saved searches for tag gardening as well, but would like to use search:all since subscriptions are going away. Would being able to exclude saved search categories from search:all be what you're looking for...?

That only seems to work for already existing searches, though. E.g. Replacing a tag with another tag.

What I wanted to do was add another item to a "group."

Perform a post search as regular with the tags you want... go to the bottom of the page... click "Save search"... choose category.... click Submit... done!

Edit:

Judging by the number of questions regarding Saved Searches, perhaps we should start up a wiki...

Thank you so much. :>

Really...? I just tested it myself, and I was able to save a new search, and edit an existing search. What are the steps you're performing...?

Nevermind, apparently I am completely blind. Thank for the help.
I followed the steps in Help:Saved Searches page and kept looking for the "save search" option under the "related" category, while blissfully ignoring that huge glowing gray button on the bottom of the page.
I'll consider purchasing a new pair of eyes.

Seems I don't quite understand Saved Searches. I've added all my tag subscriptions to individual Saved Searches (with all the combinations of tags involved), but the list from viewing the category I assigned them all does not even remotely mirror the list of posts I get from Subscriptions. It's completely out of post order, and applying order:id_desc doesn't do anything to it either. How's this supposed to work? I want it to be a replacement for Subscriptions, which I opened to see the latest things for my list of tags on a daily basis.

@ilifin

Do you have any meta-tags in your saved searches, such as pool...? That can throw things off.

Also, I just tested the above, and discovered that Saved Searches actually return more posts (and more recent posts at that) than Subscriptions do. I compared the results of both, and the results are displayed below. Results returned by both are left as is, but those returned by just the Saved Searches are bolded.

All this has determined me to get rid of my Saved Searches: they're just useless clutter; but I can't see how to.

One can presumably edit Tag Subscriptions out of existence; but I can't see any mechanism under My Account for eliminating Saved Searches.

AFAIK, there's not a quick way to delete them all at once, but you can edit or delete each search individually on this page.

The usual way to access that page is to click on "Saved Searches" on the post page, then scroll down and click on the "Manage saved searches" link in the "Related" section of the sidebar.
