Border color of flagged posts

That's an idea that came to me (and I assume a lot of other people too, like @firechikara or @Sacriven) that the red border of flagged posts isn't the best color for these kind of posts.
Also, other moderators like @OOZ662 are saying that they don't like what is often written in the comment section. Agressively arguing or insulting users.

And red is a color that leads to anger and not good stuff and it is a color for blaming these uploads, although they should be treated as a blue border (pending approval).
So I suggest a color switch since colors are not to be underestimated in this matter. But ok, maybe I'm overthinking it , but hey, it is an issue^^.

What color should we choose? Orange maybe?

When one of my posts was flagged the red border made me loose my cool a bit though not enough to leave a nasty comment.

Just had to think of a phrasing taken from the self uploading policy:

"Artists tend to be biased when it comes to judging the quality of their own work."

Isn't the same also true (of course to a much lesser extent):

"Users tend to be biased when it comes to judging the quality of their own uploads."

Purple or Blue seems alright.

Everyone is biased when it comes to their own work. I never found someone who doesn't.

To be quite honest, I don't think this is necessary at all. The color red stands out compared to the color blue, which here is a nice way of telling you that you're probably doing something wrong.

But really, a color change to prevent flame wars? Is this some sort of futureproofing?

When a post is flagged it's only put back into the approval queue, so technically flagged posts and ones waiting on approval are the same thing. Having them both be blue makes the most sense mechanically speaking.

The main reason I see to have different colors is to point out that one has a potential problem that approvers should be more critical towards.

I think no matter the color picked, a flag will always lead to the same old arguments in comments, pointless appeals and all that stuff. Seems a bit pointless to me.

I completely agree with both of these points

You think? Well, at least we can try. There is no real point to have the red color anyway, but I think that it will lead to less arguments/insults in the comment section.
Maybe not the same blue as pending posts, but a lighter version maybe^^.

Unless the color becomes the exact same as "pending" in which case flagged posts become indiscernible from normally pending posts unless you click on them - and even then I still think arguments and appeals will ensue regardless, just because it's flagged, despite being in essence is no different from "pending in queue".

Well, it is only a little experiment of course. Switching the color shouldn't be much of an issue and maybe it pays off^^. But ok. Maybe it's only a smoke bomb in the end, but we won't know until then.
I'm for at least trying it^^.

-1. I'd rather retain red for flagged images, as this is to draw approvers attention. Reds and yellows are specifically used because that is what they do. That's also why they're commonly used in nature, to draw attention.

If it's seriously an issue, I think I'd favor only those with approval privileges being able to see the red boarder and users without those privileges seeing it the same as the mod queue boarder.

+1
Sound reasonable.

are we sure we want just a color change or change the status of flagged post to completely status of pending?

i believe red was chosen for the benefit of mods, to invite their attention and hopefully pass immediate judgment. if a flagged post becomes completely like pending, then it's likely to prolong staying in queue (though i don't think it's necessarily a bad thing).

however, having a non-red color for non-mods, i believe is a good thing and easy to implement (i assume) without changing the defined status of posts.

completely changing flagged to pending status btw will now make flagged posts unappealable until they die in queue or become deleted.
