Isn't Alf more common?

I think alternate spellings of this are a backlash by fans who refuse to admit the show's creators would bestow upon a dog-girl such a dumb, yet appropriate, name as "Arf."

What the fuck when did we start using Alph here? Arf is far more common than anything else.

No, the Geneon release uses (as dictated by the original Japanese licensor) Aruf. Why? Because Japan is stupid.

I still don't support using anything other than Arf here, however.

I've always used Arf. It's what the old website for the original series used in the URL: http://nanoha.com/archive/charactor/arf.html However, it seems many of the spellings aren't standard there (Feit, Rindy, Eimy, Crono, etc.) I just started watching the R1 release and the subtitles seem to use "Aruf", though the dub is inconsistent (first volume it sounds like Alf/Alph, second volume it's Arf, and third it's Aruf...) Is there ever any instance of her name written "Aruf" in Japanese materials?

Bumping this back up because I noticed someone added the aruf tag today. "Alph" hasn't been aliased or mass-edited yet (don't care if it's "Arf" or "Aruf" really, but anything's better than "Alph" in my mind...) Is it OK to change?

Even though "Alph" sounds best to me, I would just recommend going with the official name and using aruf.

I have no idea about the show, but Aruf sounds like a typical transliteration brainfart. Make it Arf.
