If scarf_sharing is more intuitive, I have no problem with it (I had tagged most of the shared_scarf ones).

It seems as if there's never been an alias thread where everyone is in agreement...
I don't care which we use, I'll just alias one to the other. I don't think the 'focus' (can easily be argued both ways really) matters as much think what matters is consistency with other tags. We do have hand_holding for example. There are a lot of noun_action tags actually.
Still, I'm not inclined to unnecessarily change a tag that works so I'm find just leaving it and aliasing scarf_sharing to it. Honestly, both are fine by me and carry the same meaning. So when a couple more people post I'll probably go with whichever gets more support.
Using the gerund by considering that sharing a scarf is an action is a huge stretch. It's like changing bent_over to bending_over.
And let's not start changing every tag we're used to without an important reason.
If there's an alias in place, it's not like it affects you being able to use the tags you are used to. Consistency is something that's been sought for a long time now, but never really achieved. If there's a chance to go for it bit by bit, I say we should.
I don't think we should change every tag to a gerund arbitrarily ("bent over" is more like an adjective anyway), but for verbs at least I think we should.
The case at hand I guess we could go either way, leaving it as a noun or changing it to a verb, but for some reason "scarf_sharing" feels a bit more natural as a tag. Perhaps it's due to other more common tags like "hand_holding". I know, however, that I've typed in "holding_hands" more than once. Mapping it to this structure though, "held_hands", sounds particularly bad. It could be the passive tense.
I guess it the end it doesn't particularly matter for this one case, but I'll keep my vote as is.
I'd just like to point out that hand_holding is a bit different from scarf_sharing. Everyone has hands, and the tag hand_holding simply points out that two hands are connecting two people. However, not everyone has a scarf. shared_scarf seems to emphasize that there is a scarf, whereas scarf_sharing emphasizes the fact that the scarf is being shared.
To keep the tag in line with the vast number of tags that describe both an article of clothing and an action (such as x_pull, x_lift, etc. etc.), I'd probably vote for scarf_share :/ Looks weird, but at least it's consistent in some sense.
If it were worth aliasing, I'd alias scarfing to eating, actually. j/k
Hmm, scarf_share does keep consistancy with another giant block of tags, though it sounds awful (not that any of those are particularly grammatical). I don't know.
Also to bolster memegui's argument, shared_scarf is consistant with a huge group I hadn't thought of. (c.f. striped_panties, plaid_skirt, etc.) Consistancy is great, but we need to decide also what it should be consistant with.
I suppose if no consensus can be reached we may as well leave it as is. It's not a particularly large tag to worry about.
It'd be nice though if we could come up with maybe a set of guidelines to reference when making / editing / aliasing tags. Like the decision for singular vs plural, despite the fact that the decision isn't well enforced.
I'm just going to leave the tag as is. The arguments for both are good, which means the proposal for change isn't "good enough" to warrant tag changes.
You can say shared_scarf (adjective_noun) to focus on the scarf. You can say scarf_sharing (noun_gerund) to focus on the action. Both are completely, entirely legitimate. Both are consistent with other widely used styles of tags.
As that's the case, I invoke incumbent advantage and leave the tag as is. There's only so much mental effort we can expend on one minor tag before we're just being counterproductive. So then...

shared_scarf -> scarf
