Discovering similar users

This is still somewhat of what an experimental feature but if you're a gold level user with at least 300 favorites you can discover the twenty five most similar users based on favorites: http://danbooru.donmai.us/reports/similar_users

Currently it only looks at posts uploaded within the past two years. It takes a few minutes to fully generate so I suggest hitting that page and revisiting in half an hour. The results are cached for a day and then you'll have to regenerate the report (with more up to date data).

So far, interesting results.

This feels like a social media feature, which is not what this website is like.

It's entirely optional and not-in-your-face so there's no problem with it IMO; and I'm someone who usually hates social features.

I am guessing that if you find users with similar tastes, they may also have commented on or favorited on images you haven't seen before and will like. I know some of the images I enjoy most came from looking on other's profiles and seeing what they liked.

I am assuming that is a normal thing, and not something creepy. Browsing other's profiles and all...

You can go through their favorites and find some nice pics.

Seriously, though, it's probably useful only for finding the favorites similar to yours, though it'd be hindered by having to manually surf through the user profiles. If that's the intended purpose, perhaps rework the feature to suggest you posts that you didn't yet favorite, based on similar users' favorites? More processing, but less creepy potential and might actually prove to be quite fun.

I for one wouldn't mind chatting up a random stranger who shared my tastes in lewd imagery... but I'm working my way up chronologically from 2005 (currently in May 2009), so I don't have a lot of favorites from the last two years :P

Can't say I dislike it though.

If there was possibility to compare two users by third in same manner, we could have tool that quickens judgement about having backup mods/janitors.

I may reword said earler, but this can be helpful in finding stuff that in other case would be missed.

Though one of the things that make Danbooru special is the lack of social features.

The highest compatibility rate I got was 1,8%, and also 5 or 6 users with an amazing 0.00%. Are those bugs or is it supposed to be that way?..

I see that the colors are missing.
For example I believe that kyoh_ is green or yellow but on that list he is just blue and I activated the...colors.
Will this be added later?

Hmmm, might as well have us our own profile pictures.

But anyway it seems that I'm exempted from this new feature (since I don't have anything in my favorites) which I don't mind.

I could have sworn we had a similar users feature many years ago. It was somewhat accurate in my case.

Congrats, you're one of a kind. My range is 2.98% to 4.96%.

Pretty interessting.
My range start at 4,95% (or something like that and goes up to 12% ^-^).
Hmm, I wonder how this will work out for me since I haven't added that much favorites...
