Panty vs Panties

There is Panty tag and a Panties tag. What gives?

I think Panty is for ONE Panty and Panties is for 2;3;4 Panties...

Even though that is grammatically correct in this case any number of panties should be tagged with "panties" to remain consistent.

See, thats what I thought. And both Panty and Panties has images with one girl or multiple girls in panties.

I agree all "panty" tags should be changed into "panties", since it's "a pair of panties", afterall. So lets all pray to the pantsu god and maybe it will just happen without efforts?

or a mod will do a mass edit and hope no one else will use the singular form of the word as a tag.

Also, I put in a suggestion for a panty > panties alias. While 'panty" is a word in the dictionary, for all intents and purposes it only is used in the plural.

Same goes to wing and wings. I made a few mistakes when tagging my posts too. The only case I've seen a single wing is in FFVII. I should have tag all my with wings.

We need aliases especially for plural/singular tags, for common misspellings of names, etc. The cost of adding more aliases is very low, so don't be afraid to suggest some.

gun/guns, knife/knives, rifle/rifles all fall pray to this same thing, but I can't figure out any reason to use one of the other (or a pressing need to retag the entire sets, defining a difference between each item in a pair) so nothing's been done with them.

I guess we can just go plurals by default. No need to have to search both 'cat' and 'cats' to get all images with cats, when the latter can encompass both.

So yeah I'll try to remember to suggest some more aliases when I come across such things.

rifle is currently aliased to rifle, somehow, so that one can't be patched, but gun and knife suggested.

Only in Danbooru would there be a discussion over whether to say "panty" or "panties". I love it.

Yes, so few people understand or recognize this is an important issue. But it seems many in this community do understand the problem. :) Glad to be here!

Gun already has implications so better to just point guns to gun.

well there is an autocorrect thing, so this shouldn't even be a major problem would it? Like, just set one of the two as a default and the other redirects to it. I don't know what's the big problem here.

That's the alias system people are talking about. The discussion is just which things need aliasing and which should be the "dominant" tag. Aliases need to be suggested and approved manually.
