Anchor Print/Symbol

Posted under Tags

Well I'm not really for one way or another since I can see the benefit in both options, no matter which way we go it's easy to just edit the bulk update to an implication instead if needed. I'd like some more opinions before we do anything though since right now it's 1-2.

The implication idea would be beneficial if it weren't for the fact that I couldn't find a single instance of a repeating print pattern for anchor print, though I only did a cursory glance. Even if there are a few, I can't imagine there would be enough to justify an implication.

I'd rather have the implication. Anchor print is for the pattern printed on clothes (similar to the floral print tag), whereas anchor symbol can be used for a much wider variety of things, including in the KanColle logo as above, or the bowls in post #2869767, or the hat ornament in post #2855019, etc.

I agree on this, but unfortunately there's plenty of discordant *_print wikis on the matter of the pattern. Example: heart print.
All the similarly named tags probably need to be gone through and fixed/gardened.

I'm not sure if things like "heart print" should be restricted to a repeating pattern. How would a single heart printed on an object be searched in that case? The standard heart tag is way too vast in its usage to be helpful.

Perhaps heart_(symbol)? Though thinking twice about it I realize it may only cause confusion.

Would it be helpful to generalize *_print to represent a symbol on clothes or similar materials (armored dresses and the like, perhaps), no matter the quantity, and use *_symbol as a more general term?

For example, the aforementioned anchor print being a subset of anchor symbol, or heart print implying heart.
